Guests this time are Matthias Kaul, Matthieu Philippe De l’Isle and Ignacio Fernández-Bollo.
No need to tell much about Matthias Kaul, and we are proud to play the premiere of his new piece Some Hot Bottles Coolin’ Down – supervised by the composer himself. He will also join us on percussion in some pieces.
We are happy to play again with our old friend Matthieu from Paris, member of eddie135, Casse Gueule and Le Reveil Des Tropiques, among others. He has written a new piece especially for us: Music for bows and percussion.
Ignacio is also not unknown here, and he’s written also a new piece for us, as yet untitled, which is for organ, guitar, cello and percussion.
Jan Feddersen has also written a new piece called Slides for three electric guitars.
Robert Engelbrecht has no new piece, but we will probably play Nellys Boudoir for piano, three electric guitars, percussion and tape.
Phill will have a massive 7-hour-set at the festival’s closing event The Long Now (March 28-29), and we will accompany some pieces live: One Large Rose, Three Petals, Guitar too, for four and FeedCorn Ear. Julia Berg will play with us on One Large Rose, and Elisabeth Smalt will play on Three Petals. There will also be other fine performers on other pieces. Don’t miss.
We will be part again of this year’s Blurred Edges festival in Hamburg and will present an evening at the Mojo Club. Together with lots of guests we will play Terry Riley‘s In C in another electric version (after the rock version at klub katarakt 2013). This time the drummer is Dirk Dhonau, and again there will be overhead projections by Katrin Bethge. The evening will open with some drones and an interactive smartphone composition by Guy Saldanha.
We are playing again at this year’s klub katarakt festival at Kampnagel, at the opening night on Wednesday, January 15: Hommage à Phill Niblock. We will play the world premiere of Niblock‘s new piece Three Petals for three orchestras in three halls, with guest musicians Georgia Hoppe and Ignacio Fernández-Bollo. The other ensembles are Trio Scordatura from Amsterdam, joined by Guy de Bièvre and Harald Muenz, and Ensemble neoN from Oslo. Also on the programme Niblock’s Tow by Tom and Vlada BC. In addition we will also play do nothing, just wait, the singing will start…. sooner or later by Matthias Kaul, neoN will play Alvin Lucier‘s Two Circles, and Trio Scordatura will play Time Zones 0.5 by Guy de Bièvre.
Also, don’t miss the opportunity to hear Charles Curtis performing Just Charles & Cello in The Romantic Chord by La Monte Young on Thursday, Jan 16!!!
We will play on the opening night: 5 ROOMS, a concert installation for three ensembles, together with Decoder and Nyx. It seems like we will play two new compositions for three halls by Jan Feddersen and Peter Imig, respectively, as well as an older piece by Robert Engelbrecht (in one hall).
We will also be part of the katarakt Allstars, performing a rock version of Terry Riley’s classic “In C” on the closing night: February 2, 11 PM
