We are happy to announce that we invited our good friends from Scordatura ensemble (Amsterdam) to perform their new Harry Partch programme Rose Petal Jam at this year’s Blurred Edges festival!
Save the date: June 7, 2017, 20:00, at the Christianskirche in Hamburg-Ottensen.
More later. In the meantime have a look at their webpage for some info about this great project.
Mode Records has released a new DVD by Phill Niblock, featuring his film Brazil 84 from his series The Movement of People Working.
Among the music accompanying it is also Tow by Tom for two orchestras. One orchestra was played by us, including our late friend and member Jens Röhm, together with Robert Engelbrecht, Jan Feddersen and Peter Imig. It was recorded in March 2009 by Tobias Levin at Electric Avenue Studio, Hamburg. The other orchestra was played by our friends Trio Scordatura from Amsterdam.
Great that this recording finally came out!
We are playing again at this year’s klub katarakt festival at Kampnagel, at the opening night on Wednesday, January 15: Hommage à Phill Niblock. We will play the world premiere of Niblock’s new piece Three Petals for three orchestras in three halls, with guest musicians Georgia Hoppe and Ignacio Fernández-Bollo. The other ensembles are Trio Scordatura from Amsterdam, joined by Guy de Bièvre and Harald Muenz, and Ensemble neoN from Oslo. Also on the programme Niblock’s Tow by Tom and Vlada BC. In addition we will also play do nothing, just wait, the singing will start…. sooner or later by Matthias Kaul, neoN will play Alvin Lucier’s Two Circles, and Trio Scordatura will play Time Zones 0.5 by Guy de Bièvre.
Also, don’t miss the opportunity to hear Charles Curtis performing Just Charles & Cello in The Romantic Chord by La Monte Young on Thursday, Jan 16!!!
And all the other fine concerts there.
