blurred edges update

No live concerts this time… We have decided to cancel the performance of our installation at blurred edges, due to the unsecure situation. We think it’s not possible to stream this work, so we will present a new work which we developed over the past months and which lends itself more to a classical concert setting. The filmed performance will be available as a video on Sunday, June 13, via the festival channels. Details follow.

We will perform at blurred edges again and will present our installation work Ultimate Loop Space, which we began to develop with the Reload grant last year, on the last two days of the festival: June 12 & 13, at C45 in Wendenstrasse.

It’s an ongoing audiovisual piece eight hours long. As there is only a very limited audience number, there are going to be time slots, which you can book in advance. More info later. And let’s hope the situation will be better.

klub katarakt cancelled

Happy New Year!

We were going to play at the opening of this year’s klub katarakt, performing do nothing, just wait, the singing will start…. sooner or later by Matthias Kaul, who passed away last year. There was also going to be a whole concert by L’art pour l’art dedicated to his memory.

But the festival is cancelled and postponed to February. Let’s hope.

Ultimate Loop Space – so far

As told, we weren’t able to present our new work to the public. However, we have set the whole installation up and performed two run-throughs of the work in its current state and recorded and filmed the result. Snippets of this may become viewable some time!

Many thanks to Christina Hansen, who built the installation elements and designed the lighting, and to Julia Berg, who did the filming.

We will continue working on this and hope to present it next year.

Cancellation

We are sad to announce the cancellation of the planned presentations of our new installation work with help from the Reload grant, due to the newly imposed lockdown.

We hope to present it next year under better circumstances. Stay safe.

Blurred Edges 2020

Finally, the blurred edges festival is taking place and we host a concert again.

Saturday, 17 October 2019, 8 pm, C45 / Künstlerhaus Wendenstraße, Wendenstraße 45c, 20097 Hamburg

Our good old friend Donghee Nam will present a multimedia performance.

Berlin’s The International Nothing will present their latest album In Doubt We Trust for the first time in Hamburg.

And we will play the Hamburg premiere of Phill Niblock’s Exploratory, Rhine Version, with Ernst Bechert as a guest on the trombone.

Seats are limited, so come early or send us a mail.

This concert is part of the blurred edges festival. blurred edges is supported by Behörde für Kultur und Medien Hamburg and Hamburgische Kulturstiftung.

Recording Niblock

We have finished recording our version of Exploratory (Rhine Version) by Phill Niblock. Ernst Bechert joined as guest on trombone. Recording and mixing was done by Roman Schneider.

The recording will be part of a collection of CDs featuring different versions of Exploratory by many great artists, and we are glad Phill asked us to join and record s aspecial double-length version of 46 minutes. The CDs will hopefully be out sometime in 2021. We will keep you posted.

This recording was made possible by the aid fund „art knows no shutdown“ by Hamburgische Kulturstiftung.

Reload

We are happy to announce that we were chosen as recipients of the grant programme Reload by the Kulturstiftung des Bundes.

Over the next months we are going to develop an audiovisual concert installation which will take into consideration the limitations imposed on public performances and presentations due to the unpleasant circumstances these days.

We are planning to present this work over several weekends in November and December.

Nelly Boyd at klub katarakt 15

A new year and Nelly Boyd is again performing at klub katarakt at Kampnagel, Hamburg. We are taking part in the opening on January 15, where we will – together with lots of Hamburg friends and colleagues – play in all three katarakt halls simultaneously (well, sometimes).

We are also performing in the closing Long Night (January 18), playing the Hamburg premiere of Double Helix by Alvin Lucier, for four electric guitars with e-bows.

More info on the klub katarakt page.
